A MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY EDITOR EMILY ADAMS

Happy 2024, readers! My name is Emily Adams, and I am the new editor of the wellness newsletter. This year, I could not be more excited to support you wherever you are in your wellness journey–be that building upon a brand-new resolution to better yourself or enhancing a well-loved routine that helps you feel your best and live your healthiest life. In this edition, you’ll find five fantastic spots to practice meditation in the metro area. I first practiced meditation in a religious studies class at the University of Missouri-Columbia–MIZ–and it completely changed the way I perceive the connection between my mental health and physical patterns. I can’t think of a better way to begin a new year. Now I know that, technically, the change of the calendar is not some magical, mystical period in which we all get a fresh start. But still, there is something pretty special about celebrating and embracing a new beginning. So, thank you in advance for your readership of my new venture–this newsletter–and please don’t hesitate to email me if there are ways it can be more helpful to you. And, until next time–be well.

The festival will take place at Market at Milton (1320 Milton, Alton, Illinois) from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Amare, NFP, a grassroots nonprofit that provides evidence-based recovery support services to four Illinois counties.
