A message from Melissa Meinzer

The St. Louis summertime heat is upon us, and luckily there’s lots of cool stuff to do—some of it even indoors and actually cool. Wrap up Pride Month with the region’s biggest celebration, PrideFest, hoisting a rainbow over downtown this weekend. On Saturday in the Wellston Loop, party and learn about building wealth at BlackWallStreet314. Cherokee Street hosts Common Thread: A Textile Festival, which weaves together the best in art and fashion. At The Crow’s Nest in Maplewood, celebrate Halloween a bit early. And on Sunday, catch a free screening of Hoop Dreams, one of the most revered documentaries of all time. Of course, that’s not to mention Twangfest, Fiesta in Florissant, Shrek the Musical at The Muny, and more. Stay safe, and have a great weekend!

Twangfest returns with three nights of Americana, soul, and indie music

Twangfest returns to Off Broadway this weekend for its 27th year. Produced by music-loving volunteers, the nonprofit festival continues its mission of connecting audiences with both acclaimed performers and exciting new discoveries. The festival kicks off Thursday with ClassicTwang, featuring outlaw-country favorites Dale Watson and Chuck Mead. During Friday’s SoulTwang, the Playadors will pay tribute to Stax Records, in addition to a set from Freedom Affair. And on Saturday, the fest wraps up with IndieTwang, showcasing River Shook, Rosali, and Candi Jenkins.
