Don’t tempt me with a good storytime. My mom was a reading teacher for much of her career, and I owe most of my love for words, writing, and books to her. So, when I hear about an effort to increase children’s access to the magical world of reading, I immediately bookmark it. Below, you’ll find info about Saint Louis Public School’s new “Literacy in the Lou” program, a citywide effort to improve youth literacy on a major scale. Don’t miss the launch party this weekend! After all, winter is the perfect season to cozy up with a good read or two. Another activity that makes the chilly days fly by? Local(ish) getaways. Scroll below to read our case for why Edwardsville is an ideal day or overnight retreat for STL fams–from indoor play options to children’s boutiques to kid-friendly eats, all of which are just a hop, skip, and a jump away from downtown St. Louis.
