George Mahe has been SLM’s dining editor since 2006. Originally a finicky eater (“I was 21 before I got off Trix”), George has owned or operated restaurants most of his life. He began reviewing them for St Louis Magazine 30 years ago (under the pseudonym Arnie Boye, after his dog), and was the magazine’s dining editor in 1992–1993. His fair and balanced treatment of restaurants spawned a local restaurant consulting company, but when SLM sought a freelance food writer in 2006, Mahe responded, and was given his old job back. George resides in University City with his wife, Suzi.
