As ready as I am for fall, the weather forecast—mid-80s today, near 90 tomorrow, and sunny both days—is downright summery. If you don’t feel like a scoop of ice cream today, then you will tomorrow. Crave to your fave, or consider something new, such as one of 40 ice cream float flavors from Sylvie Dee’s, a “cake shake” at the newly opened JARS by Fabio Viviani, or a fist-size Ronnie’s Rocky Mountain drumstick from 4 Hands + Peacemaker Kirkwood. Check out one of Clementine’s new flavors, including André's Chocolate Bourbon Road (vanilla ice cream with bourbon, maple syrup, and salted candied Missouri pecans). I’m a sucker for a dish of brown butter salted caramel at Half Pint at The Annex, never attempted the 15-scoop Pig Trough at White Cottage, could have handled multiples of the World’s Smallest Hot Fudge Sundae at The Fountain on Locust or The Fountain on Delmar, and am still thinking about Neon Greens' The Works (a vegan Thai basil and matcha soft-serve studded with shards of homemade sesame brittle).
In this episode of the Arch Eats podcast, Cheryl Baehr and I discuss even more places for frozen treats. In the meantime, consider visiting an ice cream shop this weekend. After the temperature plummets next week, you may no longer be in the mood.

Flatline Servers: Restaurant staffers: While we realize that your job is to serve us and not entertain us, is it asking too much for you to at least crack a smile every now and then, even if you have to force it? Part of the guest experience—and part of what will keep us coming back—is feeling welcomed and appreciated. And it goes without saying that guests usually return the courtesy on the tip line.
Grand Mediterranean (519 N. Grand): The new fast-casual lunch-and-dinner restaurant specializing in doner, falafel, and pide (Turkish pizza) is hosting its grand opening next Thursday, October 17.
Pavilion (5201 Shaw): Nick Bognar’s omakase experience is slated to open soon on the same property on The Hill as his award-winning modern Japanese restaurant, Sado. Check Pavilion’s social media for soft-opening announcements.
Chico Bueno (3942 Laclede): Good Ice, the locally owned manufacturer of premium ice cubes, has already spawned a restaurant (Good Company) and an aperitif bar (Aperi) within that restaurant. Debuting early next year is Chico Bueno, a Mexican restaurant which will share space with a new ice production facility in the Central West End.
