INTERVIEW
St. Louis interior designer publishes recipe book
Six years ago, St. Louis native Rachel Miller began collecting vintage barware: Midcentury highballs, embellished gold tumblers, designer wine glasses... During the earliest months of the pandemic, she decided to take that hobby to the next level. Using her skills and background as a former sweater designer for May Co., she began illustrating cocktail recipes, inspired by the TV shows that she was binging on at night and the to-go cocktails that she was ordering from local restaurants.
Drawing on estate sale finds and refurbished treasures, Lauren Berry curates a style all her own
Antlers, tortoise shells, and badminton rackets adorn the walls of Lauren Berry’s University City apartment. Neutral colors, rich wood finishes, and natural elements fill the space. “I want my house to feel like someone stepped into a hunting club,” she says. It’s an unusual aesthetic for a 25-year-old, but even more surprising is the fact that Berry has sourced nearly every item from an estate sale, antique shop, or family member’s basement. “I love clean, traditional lines,” says Berry, a designer at Wolff Interiors, “and [this style] is so easy to find—that’s the amazing thing. You can go to any estate sale and find cool furniture that has this look.”

WHAT I LOVE
Cocktails with a Curator
One of my favorite museums in the world is The Frick Collection in New York City. When travel was restricted and museums closed last year, I was thrilled to discover its series “Cocktails with a Curator.” I loved the weekly deep dive into a great work of art—give me anything by El Greco, Velázquez, Vermeer, and works with the word ‘Lady’ or ‘Comtesse’ in the title. The charm and passion with which the curators deliver their lessons, complete with a complementary cocktail and recipe, is first in class. Although the series ended a couple of months ago, all 65 episodes are still available to view on the museum’s YouTube channel.
