Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Do you know how you’re celebrating Mom? My children know that I’d love nothing more than their company on my morning walk with Archie, our Aussiedoodle, followed by coffee and breakfast at home. If you’re reading, kids, those vintage sewing scissors, pictured below, are also calling my name. Until next week.
This Sunday, May 8, is Mother's Day. Show the favorite woman in your life how much you care by surprising her with a little something that speaks to her passions and hobbies.

WHAT I LOVE
Vintage Gifts
For Mother’s Day, I like to shop vintage and resale for one-of-a-kind gifts that can't be found elsewhere. Last weekend, I spent a few hours sorting through the goods at two local shops, Ditto Family Resale and Warson Woods Antique Gallery. Here’s some of what caught my eye.
Top row, left to right
Cotton napkins with all of the right summer colors set a foundation for building a pretty table. Four napkins and four complementary placemats, $18. Ditto Family Resale.
I keep dishes like this one on lots of surfaces around my house, from my desk to my nightstand and bathroom vanity. Doing so gives me a place to set down jewelry, corral hair ties, lipstick tubes, and other sundry items. Dish with rose motif. $7. Ditto Family Resale.
Elevate your look with a Chinese Cloisonné necklace. The enamel is in great condition on both, and the colors work like neutrals, giving you endless styling options. Chinese Cloisonné necklace, $55 each. Ditto Family Resale.
Aren’t these flower pots the sweetest? Displaying them as a collection highlights their charm and intricate details, but they are sold separately. Pots in various sizes and colors, $39 and up. Warson Woods Antique Gallery.
Bottom row, left to right
Whose mom doesn’t love spending time at the Missouri Botanical Garden? A Gift To Glory In: The First Hundred Years Of The Missouri Botanical Garden (1859–1959) by William Barnaby Faherty S.J. $24. Warson Woods Antique Gallery.
Cobalt-blue, salt-glazed rooster can be used as decoration in a French-inspired kitchen or as a “piggy” bank, like it was originally intended. $49. Warson Woods Antique Gallery.
How many times have you needed a pair of sewing scissors, only to realize you don’t own one? This lovely set is the answer. Vintage sewing scissors with carrying case. $10. Warson Woods Antique Gallery.
The blue-and-white décor scheme is a classic—and the matching creamer would be hard to pass. Vintage Royal Copenhagen salt-and-pepper set. $125. Creamer, $235. Warson Woods Antique Gallery.
