A MESSAGE FROM MANAGING EDITOR CHRISTINE JACKSON

We’ve shared about the St. Louis Art Place Initiative before, and we’re revisiting the organization this week as it prepares to launch a new round of applications. The launch is a key element of Brothers Lazaroff’s Laz Jazz Fest, coming to Grand Center on Saturday night. Proceeds from the night of jazz, New Orleans–style bites, and fun at The Grandel and The Dark Room will “benefit St. Louis Art Place Initiative’s mission to build wealth and equity for low- to moderate-income artists through homeownership.” You can learn more about the event and the organization's work below. As always, thanks for subscribing, and feel free to reply to this email with your thoughts, ideas, and questions. Until next time!

Spotlight

Brothers Lazaroff's Laz Jazz Fest is coming to Grand Center

Benefitting St. Louis Art Place Initiative, the fest will take place July 15 at the Grandel Theatre and The Dark Room.

For the past seven years, Brothers Lazaroff has been working on blending many styles of original music into a sub-genre called “Laz Jazz.” Whether a song leans more country, bluegrass, or rock ‘n’ roll, the band is able to add a jazz spin to just about anything, says David Lazaroff. Brothers Lazaroff has performed an annual “Laz Jazz” set in Grand Center since 2016. This year, they’re building on the original event to host the Laz Jazz Festival at the Grandel Theater and The Dark Room on July 15. The event will feature several other artists and bands, many of whom have collaborated with the band in the past. Proceeds from the evening festival will be donated to the St. Louis Art Place Initiative, an organization that works with neighborhoods, community advocates, and stakeholders to place low- to moderate-income artists of all disciplines into home ownership. St. Louis Art Place Initiative will kick off its latest home application launch on the same day as the Laz Jazz event.
