Beer Outside Brewing

Beer Outside Brewing is the newest chapter in the Beer Outside story. After starting with a beer trailer and later opening a retail beer stop, the team is making the leap into brewing its own beer by taking over the former Mackenzie Brewing space in Valley Park. The brewery is currently in soft-opening mode, open from noon–10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. For now, it’s equal parts test batches and finishing touches while house beers come online.

The Class of 2011

Years ago, I wrote about the “Class of 2011,” including four popular St. Louis breweries: Urban Chestnut, Perennial Artisan Ales, Civil Life, and 4 Hands. Now, Perennial is sending out the beer world version of a save-the-date. The brewery plans to celebrate its 15th anniversary on September 12, teasing surprises and what will almost certainly be some special releases.

APRIL 4

Scratch Brewing Company celebrates its 13th anniversary with a forest tasting experience, featuring a 1-mile beer loop through the woods. Guests receive eight half-pours of cask beer along with wild teas, soup and grilled food. Tickets are $50 and include lunch.

APRIL 18

Mississippi Culture Oak Fermented Ales celebrates its third anniversary with the release of a collaboration with Switchgrass Spirits. The release features Shadows Blend #2, a Belgian dark ale aged in Switchgrass rye whiskey barrels, alongside a Switchgrass bourbon finished in Mississippi Culture barrels. Both will be available for on-site consumption and to-go.

APRIL 23

Side Project Brewing hosts its 11th Library Tasting as part of its Zwanze celebration kickoff. The event features sour, saison, mixed fermentation, and malty beers, along with library pours and to-go options, including Library Chapter 1. Tickets are available through the brewery’s online shop.

APRIL 25

Side Project Brewing hosts Zwanze Day 2026 at The Side Project Cellar from 1–5 p.m. The international Cantillon celebration will feature pours of five Cantillon beers, including the 2026 Zwanze releases, Side Project barrel-aged malty beers, fruited and sour beers, and library bottle pours. Tickets include a commemorative tasting glass, with food available for purchase.

APRIL 25

Shoehorn Brewing hosts the inaugural Belleville HomebrewFest from noon–4 p.m.The fest will feature beer, cider, and mead from local homebrewers. Tickets include a custom tasting glass, and proceeds benefit the Belleville Area Humane Society.

MAY 2

The Manchester Craft Beer Festival runs from 3–6 p.m. at Paul Schroeder Park with regional breweries pouring at this outdoor tasting event.

MAY 9

Das Bevo hosts its fifth annual Maifest from 10:30 a.m.–9 p.m., with free admission, Urban Chestnut beer, German food, polka bands, and traditional biergarten festivities, including a stein-holding contest. Live music includes The Wurst Bavarian Band (from noon–2 p.m.), the Deutschmeister Brass Band (from 3–6 p.m.), and Die Spitzbuam (from 7–10 p.m.).

MAY 17

Alpha Brewing Company hosts Bacon Fest 2026 from 2 to 6 p.m., pairing craft beer with bacon-focused dishes and local food vendors at its Tower Grove South brewery.

JUNE 14

Ales for Tails returns with a homebrew festival benefiting local animal rescue organizations. The fest will feature tastings, music, and adoption outreach.

SEPTEMBER 12

Perennial Artisan Ales celebrates its 15th anniversary with special releases and events marking the brewery’s milestone year.
