A message from Jordan Palmer

With the recent closures of Earthbound Beer, Freestyle Brewing, and Schlafly Bankside, as well as news that Wellspent Brewing is for sale, the local beer scene has faced its share of challenges. But in true STL fashion, when one door closes, another opens, this time with Great Heart Brewing making its debut in Olivette. There’s also a host of events across town this month, from 4 Hands’ Madagascar Release Party to Galentine’s Day events. So during this time of celebration and connection, let’s honor the past while raising a glass to the future. Prost!

The Scoop

🔥 HOT SPOT

Side Project Pizza now open in Maplewood

It’s official: Side Project Pizza (2657 Lyle) is slinging pies, and trust me: It isn’t your average pizzeria. From the team behind Side Project Brewing, the family-friendly spot boasts a four-season patio and a menu from chef Adam Altnether that has it all: 14-inch sourdough pizzas (try the BBQ Pork or Taco Pizza), appetizers, and salads—all paired with the brewery’s signature craft brews. Swing by or use the drive-thru for an easy grab-and-go option.

đź’¬ INSIDER TIP

Accolades for local brews

St. Louis is in the running to once again be crowned “Best Beer City” by USA Today’s 10Best. You can vote daily through February 24 to help STL bring home the crown. And a bit farther afield, Marika Josephson and Aaron Kleidon of Scratch Brewing in Ava, Illinois, are celebrating their nomination for a 2025 James Beard Award in the Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service category.
