Unfortunately for St. Louis CITY SC, the club can’t face off against cellar-dwelling San Jose every week. CITY’s games are sometimes difficult to watch, as the losses mount and the team’s path to the postseason feels especially fraught. Yet at the risk of seeming Pollyannaish, it is worth noting that this club will look very different—and, potentially, much better—very soon. Cedric Teuchert, Marcel Hartel, and Jake Girdwood-Reich will become eligible for selection once the transfer window opens on Thursday. That means Saturday’s rivalry match at Sporting Kansas City could be our first glimpse of what the club will look like with its long-anticipated reinforcements in the mix. In this edition, we preview what each of those three players could bring to the club this weekend. We also analyze how the club hopes to rebound in tonight’s match at Seattle, note a couple of CITY-related storylines to follow during next week’s MLS All-Star Game festivities and share how you can support the Saint Louis City Punks and Riot Grrrls during this fall’s American Society for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Community Walk at Creve Coeur Lake Park.

Until next time, enjoy the game!
