If 2025 saw the low-key and intentional integration of cannabis into the wider St. Louis wellness culture, then that vibe certainly accelerated as the year drew to a close. The biggest story of the year happened December 18, when the federal government reclassified marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule III substance—something that activists have been working toward for years. While the long-term effects of rescheduling are still to be determined, industry leaders are mostly celebrating the news because it will make medical research and studying marijuana more widespread. For enthusiasts, perhaps the biggest positive to rescheduling is that it is just one more step toward cannabis being more acceptable and destigmatized. There have already been major strides, and experts anticipate more progress in 2026. It’s going to be a great year!
