I’ve said plenty here about my reading habits, but I just know my already daunting to-be-read list is about to get longer: The Novel Neighbor is hosting the grand opening of its new romance-specific mini shop concept, Open Door Romance, on August 17. I’ll be checking it out a little early this week, and you can bet I’ll be leaving with a couple of new additions to my shelf from its collection of rom-coms, historical romances, BookTok faves, and much more. Paranormal Investigation of The Sheldon
The Sheldon is the place to be this week for those who fully embrace the Summerween spirit. On Friday night, The Sheldon will invite attendees to come along as Gateway Regional Investigations of the Paranormal (GRIP) investigates the 112-year-old concert hall. And it isn’t just a chance to observe: Daring visitors can take advantage of paranormal investigation equipment (infrared cameras, K2 meters, dowsing rods, temperature monitors) provided by GRIP team members, who will also offer short tutorials. New Works Collective
Did you miss Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ 2024 New Works Collective productions, or do you just want to see the groundbreaking productions again? Five-Star Stranger
On Thursday, Left Bank Books will host a conversation with local author Kat Tang, whose new novel, Five-Star Stranger, was released August 6. The much-lauded debut has been praised by Rachel Khong, author of Goodbye, Vitamin, as “a five-star read…[written] with care and clarity, perception, and perfect comedic timing.” At this week’s event, Tang will discuss the novel with Ruth Kim, a volunteer ambassador for the Very Asian Foundation.
